Virat Kohli became the leading runner
in ICC T20 World Cup history on Wednesday when he recorded a personal score of 16 against Bangladesh in Adelaide, India. Kohli came to bat early after India lost captain Rohit Sharma for little money and looked fluid from the start. He surpassed the record of former Sri Lanka captain Mahela Jayawardene, who had hit 1016 runs in 31 innings. Kohli played his 25th entry in tournament history.
The Indian talisman had lit up the 2014 and 2016 editions of the ICC T20 World Cup. He was the run leader in 2014 when his 319 runs took India to the final where they lost to Sri Lanka.
In 2016, Kohli was second in the racing charts (273) when India was eliminated in the semi-finals.
