After some rocky

years in which some fans worried about her health and others treated her like a joke, Lindsay Lohan appears to be back on her feet.

Lohan married Bader Shammas earlier this year and appears to be enjoying a quiet, domestic life in her new home in the United Arab Emirates.

But it’s only natural that from time to time Lindsay wonders what could have been.

After all, it wasn’t that long ago that she was one of the most famous artists on the planet.

Lindsay hasn’t appeared in a movie since 2019, but that will change soon, thanks to her role in the upcoming Netflix release. falling in love with christmas.

It’s a step in the right direction, but playing an amnesia victim in a direct-to-broadcast Christmas rom-com probably isn’t what Lindsay envisioned for herself at this point in her career.

Her wild success Bad Girls co-stars (Amanda Seyfried, Rachel McAdams and Lizzie Kaplan have all gone on to bigger and better things) probably underscores Lohan’s sense of disappointment.

So what happened?

Well, the usual narrative is that Lindsay partied too much and burned too many bridges, ultimately becoming a risk no studio was willing to take.

But in a new interview with CosmopolitanLindsay claims that she was simply the victim of bad timing.

The actress says there are “too many” social media today, but argues that tools like Instagram and Twitter would have allowed her to exercise control over her public image, rather than allowing the tabloids to shape the way she is perceived.

“When I started in the business, none of us had a say in how to control our own narrative. There were paparazzi photos, and then people ran with it,” Lindsay told the magazine.

“So I think it’s really cool that in this day and age, people can say who they are and who they want to be,” Lohan continued.

“And I admire and appreciate that. I’m a little jealous because I didn’t have that.”

Us to think we understand what Lindsay is saying here.

After all, social networks can offer the opportunity to explain oneself or to offer information about unusual choices or behavior.

But it also offers new and exciting ways to make mistakes.

MaybeLindsay, young and frequently intoxicated, would have used Instagram to offer information about actions and behaviors that the media misrepresented.

But it’s just as likely that he would have used that extra exposure to torpedo his own career even faster.

LiLo went on to reveal that she finds the current social media climate more than a little confusing.

“You have to take everything people say with a grain of salt and just be you. And slow down, because everyone is so fast right now,” she said.

“People just don’t stop. You have to relax,” Lindsay continued.
