Crysencio Summerville compares Leeds United teammate to Lionel Messi after memorable win over Liverpool at Anfield

Leeds United winger

Crysencio Summerville compared teammate Brenden Aaronson to Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) superstar Lionel Messi following his side’s 2-1 win over Liverpool at the weekend .

The Whites emerged from the relegation zone with their first win in nine Premier League games, winning 2-1 at Anfield on Saturday (29 Oct). Rodrigo Moreno opened the scoring after four minutes before Mohamed Salah restored the equalizer ten minutes later. Summerville then scored a late game-winner, much to the relief of hard-pressed manager Jesse Marsch.

After playing the full 90 minutes against Liverpool, Aaronson took to Instagram to celebrate his team’s victory. He wrote:

“So incredibly proud of this team, exactly the result we needed #MOT💙💛”

Summerville praised his teammate’s performance, writing:

“Messi (with a US flag emoji)“

Leeds midfielder Marc Roca responded with some emjois:

“❤️❤️“

Aaronson, who joined Red Bull Salzburg for around £22m this summer, put in an excellent performance against the Reds. He completed 20 passes, hit the woodwork once, created a chance, dribbled and won seven innings. Aaronson has scored and provided an assist in 12 Premier League starts this season.

Messi, meanwhile, has dominated the headlines with his magnificent performances at the Parc des Princes. He has scored 12 goals and contributed 13 assists in 17 games in all competitions.

Two Premier League giants express interest in Lionel Messi: reports
According to El Nacional, Manchester United and Chelsea are interested in signing PSG striker Lionel Messi on a free transfer next season to strengthen their attacking ranks.

With his contract with PSG due to expire next summer, the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner has also been linked with a return to Barcelona. He left the Blaugrana last summer after the club failed to offer him a contract extension without breaching LaLiga’s financial fair play rules.

However, the Argentine is not interested in contract negotiations until the FIFA World Cup in Qatar is over next month, according to Fabrizio Romano. In his column for Caught Offside (via Le10Sport), he wrote:

Barcelona are tempted to bring him back and PSG are also willing to make him an offer to stay longer. But the negotiations will have to wait. Right now he is concentrating on the current season and the World Cup before he does it.” a decision in 2023.”
